Tour Itinerary

Below is the Detailed Itinerary Of Moonlight Taj Mahal Tour

Day 1:Departure from Delhi – Explore Agra

12:00 PM – Departure from Delhi

Your tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Delhi (or your preferred location). You will be driven to Agra in a comfortable, air-conditioned private vehicle. The drive takes about 3.5 to 4 hours via the Yamuna Expressway, one of India’s smoothest highways. En route, you can relax and enjoy the scenery or request short stops for refreshments.

04:00 PM – Arrival in Agra and Hotel Check-In

Upon arrival in Agra, you’ll check into a luxury or boutique hotel. You’ll have some time to freshen up and rest before beginning your sightseeing. If you prefer, you can also explore the local markets for an hour or two.

05:30 PM – Visit Agra Fort

Your first destination is the historic Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This massive red sandstone fort was once the main residence of the Mughal emperors. You’ll explore its stunning palaces, courtyards, and grand halls, including Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience), and Jahangir Mahal. From the fort, you can get a distant view of the Taj Mahal, making this visit even more special. Your guide will explain the fort's rich history, including its significance during the reign of Emperor Akbar and later Mughal rulers. The combination of military and residential architecture at Agra Fort offers a fascinating insight into Mughal life.

07:00 PM – Dinner at a Local Restaurant

After exploring Agra Fort, you’ll enjoy a delightful dinner at a local restaurant. Agra is known for its Mughlai cuisine, so this is a perfect time to savor local dishes like butter chicken, kebabs, and naan bread. Your guide will recommend the best places to dine, based on your preferences.

08:30 PM – Visit Mehtab Bagh for Sunset View of the Taj Mahal

Before your moonlight viewing, you’ll head to Mehtab Bagh, a beautiful garden situated across the Yamuna River, directly opposite the Taj Mahal. This location offers some of the best sunset views of the monument, as the setting sun casts a warm, golden glow on the white marble. It’s also a peaceful spot, ideal for taking photographs or simply relaxing in the cool evening breeze.

10:30 PM – Entry for Moonlight Viewing at the Taj Mahal

The highlight of your tour is the moonlight visit to the Taj Mahal. You’ll be escorted to the Taj Mahal complex, where you will go through security checks before being allowed into the main viewing area. The full moon transforms the Taj Mahal into a mesmerizing sight. The soft, silvery light reflects off the marble, making the entire structure appear almost translucent. The tranquil Yamuna River flows silently in the background, enhancing the mystical ambiance. The beauty of the monument under the moonlight is truly otherworldly, offering an experience unlike any daytime visit. You will have around 30 minutes to admire the Taj Mahal in the moonlight. Photography may be restricted, but the experience itself will leave a lasting impression. Your guide will share stories and historical insights about the monument, adding depth to the experience.

Day 2: Sunrise at the Taj Mahal – Return to Delhi

05:30 AM – Sunrise Visit to the Taj Mahal

You will return to the Taj Mahal in the early morning for a sunrise viewing. This offers a completely different perspective, as the first rays of sunlight touch the monument, gradually transforming it from a soft pink hue to brilliant white. Fewer crowds at this time of day make for a peaceful, serene experience. This is the perfect opportunity to appreciate the intricate details of the Taj Mahal up close—its marble inlay work, calligraphy, and symmetry. Your guide will provide a detailed historical account of how Emperor Shah Jahan built this monument in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, making it one of the greatest symbols of love in the world.

08:00 AM – Breakfast at the Hotel

After your sunrise visit, you’ll return to your hotel for breakfast. This is a good time to relax and reflect on the beauty and history of the Taj Mahal that you have just experienced under both the moonlight and the morning sun.

09:30 AM – Visit Itmad-ud-Daulah’s Tomb (Baby Taj)

After breakfast, you’ll visit Itmad-ud-Daulah's Tomb, often called the "Baby Taj" because of its striking resemblance to the Taj Mahal. Built by Nur Jahan for her father, this tomb is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture and served as an inspiration for the construction of the Taj Mahal. The delicate marble lattice screens and detailed inlay work foreshadow the grandeur of the Taj.

11:00 AM – Explore Local Markets (Optional)

If you’re interested, you can take a short tour of Agra’s vibrant local markets, where you can shop for marble handicrafts, leather goods, textiles, and jewelry. Agra is known for its skilled artisans, and the markets offer an excellent opportunity to buy souvenirs and unique handcrafted items.

12:30 PM – Visit Fatehpur Sikri (Optional)

As an optional addition to your tour, you can visit Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located about 40 km from Agra. This former Mughal capital is renowned for its magnificent architecture, including the Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, and Tomb of Salim Chishti. Your guide will share the fascinating history of this city, which was abandoned due to water shortages.

03:00 PM – Drive Back to Delhi

After exploring the sites, you will begin your journey back to Delhi via the Yamuna Expressway. The comfortable drive will take approximately 3.5 to 4 hours.

07:00 PM – Arrival in Delhi

You will arrive back in Delhi in the evening, and your driver will drop you off at your hotel or preferred location. This concludes your Moonlight Taj Mahal Tour.
